Avast ye mateys! The U.N. be chattin' 'bout a crew o' rabbis, some from Israel, some from America. They snuck in through tour groups, gathered in the Security Council room, and be showin' off their fancy banners, makin' quite the ruckus, says the U.N. scallywags!

A group of left-wing rabbis staged a protest demanding a cease-fire in Gaza by taking over the United Nations Security Council chamber. This unprecedented demonstration was met with criticism from Anne Bayefsky, director of the Touro Institute on Human Rights and the Holocaust, who called it a defilement of the U.N.'s sacred chamber and a display of mob rule. The rabbis gained access to the chamber by signing up for a tour of the U.N. headquarters and then unfurled banners demanding the U.S. stop vetoing measures to end the Israeli operations in Gaza. The press release from the protest organizers outlined their goals, including stopping the slaughter of Palestinians in Gaza and calling for an immediate arms embargo. While the U.N. has called for a cease-fire, the U.S. and other allies have rejected resolutions due to issues with the language and lack of a durable solution. Protests demanding a cease-fire have been increasing across the U.S., with over 300 protesters arrested in New York City and interruptions during President Biden's speech. U.N. spokesperson Stephane Dujarric stated that the group of rabbis included both American and Israeli rabbis and clarified that they were anti-war, not anti-Israel. He explained that they had gone through a thorough security screening and were escorted out of the building for violating the rules. However, Bayefsky criticized the U.N. for allowing the protest to take place and accused security and tour guides of enabling the event.
