Arr, me hearties! Iran be seekin' to set the Middle East ablaze, causin' mayhem in the world o' trade! To thwart them scallywag ayatollahs, ol' Biden must seize control o' the situation, just like Reagan did in his prime. Avast, mateys!

Iran poses a significant threat to the United States and the world. Iranian-backed militias have targeted U.S. forces and bases in Iraq and Syria with over a hundred strikes in the past three months. Tehran-supported Houthi rebels have also launched numerous attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, causing disruptions in global trade. In response, President Biden issued a "final warning" to Iran, but this approach has proven ineffective.

The current strategy of escalation control is not deterring Iran and its terrorist groups. To prevent the crisis from escalating further, it is time for President Biden to adopt a strategy of escalation dominance. Fear of angering Iranian leaders has shaped Biden's policy, but Iran is a different kind of adversary than Russia. While Russia has a large nuclear arsenal, Iran does not yet possess a viable nuclear weapon.

Iran is confident in its ability to outplay the United States in asymmetric warfare. The Iranian regime has been waging a protracted low-intensity military confrontation through its proxies across the Middle East. Iran has also been developing expertise in cyberwarfare and conducting proxy attacks on U.S. citizens. The only way to deter Iran is to demonstrate a credible threat of direct kinetic confrontation.

To achieve this, President Biden can employ the concept of escalation dominance, which aims to shatter the adversary's confidence in its ability to win. Former President Reagan employed this doctrine against Iran in 1988, successfully ending hostilities. Biden must act swiftly and invoke the Reagan Doctrine to prevent Iran from further destabilizing the region and threatening global security.
