"A fair lass be takin' her quarrel to th' courts o' New York, fer bein' wrongly stashed in a bloke's brig on Rikers Island!"

2024-01-13

Dylan Miles, a fair lass sailin' the seas of change, be takin' to court the scallywag New York City departments. They dared to lock her up wi' a pack o' ruffian males on Rikers Island, where she claims they treated her cruelly. Avast! Justice be sought!

A transgender woman named Ali Miles, who goes by Dylan, is suing the City of New York for $22 million after being placed in a male detention center at Rikers Island and experiencing assault and harassment. Miles was held at Rikers Island from June to July of 2022 before being transferred to Arizona. She was charged with several crimes, including stalking and making false reports. Miles is suing the New York City Department of Correction, the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation, and individuals for the treatment she received, including rape, physical assault, and harassment.

The lawsuit references the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) of 2003, which aims to address rape incidents in correctional facilities. It states that Miles was born a biological man but identifies as a transgender woman. Despite her objections and requests to be housed with women, she was placed in a men's housing unit. The lawsuit also accuses the defendants of delaying and denying her access to healthcare.

Miles' attorney claims that she was raped, assaulted, and battered by a male inmate, resulting in fractured ribs and permanent blindness after being doused with chemicals. The lawsuit argues that the defendants' actions were a result of discrimination and deliberate indifference towards transgender individuals. It further alleges that New York authorities ignored Miles' pleas for help and protection.

The lawsuit asserts that a corrections officer told Miles, "We don't do the trans thing here," which the lawsuit argues violates civil rights law. Fox News Digital reached out to the New York City Department of Correction and the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation for comment.
