Avast ye, landlubbers! The Sudanese scallywags be cuttin' off connections with IGAD, the East African trade sprogs, for invitin' that swashbucklin' Gen. Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo to their upcoming shindig. Methinks trouble be brewin' on the horizon, mateys!

The Sudanese government has suspended ties with the East African regional bloc, accusing it of violating Sudan's sovereignty. The bloc, known as IGAD, has been mediating between Sudan's army and the Rapid Support Forces, a paramilitary group. The two factions have been fighting for control of Sudan since April, leading to street battles and tensions across the country. The Sudanese foreign ministry, which supports the army, stated that IGAD's invitation to the paramilitary leader without prior consultation was a violation of Sudan's sovereignty. The 42nd IGAD summit is scheduled to take place in Uganda, but the Sudanese government's announcement may disrupt the proceedings. IGAD has not yet responded to the foreign ministry's statement. The bloc, along with Saudi Arabia and the United States, has been involved in mediation efforts to end the conflict, but peace talks have remained stagnant. The military leaders of the army and the Rapid Support Forces have not met in person since the war started. The announcement by the Sudanese government comes after the paramilitary leader, Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, completed a tour of Africa, where he met with government officials in various countries. The Rapid Support Forces have gained the upper hand in the conflict, making advances across Sudan's central belt. The United Nations has reported that at least 12,000 people have been killed in the conflict, with both sides accused of war crimes. IGAD is made up of Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, and Uganda.
