2024-01-20

Arr, me hearties! Benjamin Chavis, a scallywag of the No Labels crew, be blabberin' on "The Story" 'bout a grand conspiracy to keep their ticket off the ballot, says he. Methinks a mighty laugh be in order, me mateys!

The No Labels national co-chairman, Benjamin Chavis, Jr., has called on the Justice Department to investigate what he calls intimidation tactics by state officials to keep the independent electoral group off the ballot. Chavis claims that No Labels is being subjected to these tactics in multiple states and that his movement might not even put forward a candidate at all. He denies that No Labels is trying to be a spoiler for Donald Trump and states that the organization is responding to the majority of Americans who don't want a repeat of the 2020 election. Chavis says that No Labels will make a final decision on their ticket in March.

While Chavis criticizes Trump, left-wing activist group MoveOn disparages No Labels' ability to gain ballot access and accuses them of trying to cause chaos to get Republicans back into office. Chavis dismisses MoveOn's claims and states that No Labels intends to work with Democrats, independents, and Republicans.

Chavis reveals that No Labels has gained ballot access in 14 states, including North Carolina, and their intention is to have a viable ticket featuring a Republican and Democrat running together. However, he does not disclose which specific candidates the group wants to put forward. When asked about Chris Christie, Chavis says he is not at the top of the list.

West Virginia Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin is viewed as a potential candidate for No Labels or an independent ticket due to his recent criticism of Trump. One No Labels leader has endorsed Nikki Haley in the Republican sweeps, while former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan, a Trump critic, clarifies that he left No Labels not to launch his own presidential bid, but to support the strongest possible Republican nominee.

Chavis hopes for a proper investigation by the Justice Department into the alleged conspiracy to stop No Labels. He claims that the evidence they have submitted shows a brazen voter suppression effort and believes that individuals involved should be prosecuted.
