Avast ye, mateys! A wee vessel did capsize 'pon the coast of Maine, and a poor soul, his wails echoed throughout the sea. A noble lobsterman, he did summon aid to scour the depths and rescue our unfortunate matey.

A lobsterman in Maine heard cries for help and joined a multi-agency search that saved a man's life. The man had been checking storm damage to his skiff when it capsized between Tenants Harbor and Rackliff Island. He fell into freezing waters and was stranded on one of the northern islands. His wife called 911 when he missed his pickup time at the marina. The St. George Fire and Rescue team, along with the US Coast Guard, Marine Patrol, and Knox County Sheriff's Office, launched a search but couldn't find him. However, a nearby citizen heard his moans and called 911, narrowing the search area. A local lobsterman named Ryan Miller heard about the search on the radio and joined in. He ultimately found the man, who was stranded on an island with difficult access. Working in shifts and teams, first responders strapped him to stokes, wrapped him in a tarp, and carefully carried him through the dense woods and tidal pools. They transferred him to a small Marine Patrol boat and then to the US Coast Guard, who took him to shore and rushed him to the hospital. The man's condition is currently unknown, and thoughts and prayers are requested for his recovery. The St. George Fire and Rescue team emphasized the importance of having a plan and establishing check-in times when going out on the water to prevent tragic outcomes.
