In a tragic accident, an eight-year-old Georgia girl lost her life when she was run over by a driver while trying to board a school bus. The driver, identified as 25-year-old Kaylee Andre, has been arrested in connection with the child's death. The incident occurred on Jackson Lake Road, at the intersection of a private driveway, and the girl was airlifted to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, the school bus had its red flashing lights activated, and the stop signs on both the front and rear were displayed at the time of the accident. Andre's windshield was partially obstructed as it had been iced over and she had failed to scrape off all the ice. As a result, her view was compromised, leading to the tragic collision.
Andre has been charged with first-degree vehicular homicide, failure to stop for a school bus loading and unloading, and failure to exercise due care. She was booked into the Henry County Jail.
This incident serves as a heartbreaking reminder of the importance of following traffic rules, especially when it comes to school buses. It is crucial for drivers to be vigilant and cautious while approaching and passing stopped school buses to ensure the safety of children. Adequate visibility is essential, and drivers must take the necessary precautions to remove any obstructions, such as ice or frost, from their windshields.
Our thoughts and condolences go out to the family and friends of the young girl who lost her life in this tragic accident. May she rest in peace.
