Arrr! Olympic and landlubber wench sports be makin' some mighty bafflin' choices regardin' the true prowess o' these 'female' scallywags. Methinks it befallen upon Congress to uncover a solution fer this here dilemma!
A Republican Representative and Senator have introduced legislation to protect female athletes from male-displacement in sports. These sport-specific organizations have been operating without accountability for years and have harmed female athletes. USA Boxing recently changed their rules so that participants do not have to be female, as long as they have undergone a few surgeries and taken some pills. This has led to biological men competing against women and potentially causing harm. The regulations created by these organizations extend beyond entertainment and the NCAA defaults their guidelines to those determined by the sport-specific organizations. Many NCAA athletes and coaches have pushed back against this discrimination against female student-athletes. The corruptible power of these organizations, coupled with their backwards thinking, has been destroying female opportunity for a long time. For example, USA Volleyball allows male participation in "girls" leagues as long as they take synthetic hormones, ignoring male advantages such as height. These discriminatory policies almost robbed the author of a chance to achieve her dreams as a college athlete. Club volleyball is the gateway to college volleyball and these policies create a monopoly of opportunity. The corruption in these organizations also affects international play and sends the message that the best women athletes in the US are actually biological men. It is crucial to stop this regression and protect female opportunity in sports. The legislation introduced by the Republicans is necessary to push back against these perverse policies and protect female athletes.
