H.B. 1365 passed the Republican-controlled House 82-26, with Governor Ron DeSantis supportin' the measure to "combat homelessness and keep Florida's streets clean." DeSantis be sayin', "We're not lettin' Florida turn into San Francisco with homeless runnin' amok."The bill also be givin' residents and business owners the power to challenge local officials on how they be handlin' homelessness. The Florida Senate be expected to discuss a similar proposal soon. House sponsor Sam Garrison admitted the bill won't solve homelessness but said current efforts ain't workin'. The goal be to prevent Florida cities from turnin' into San Francisco with a homeless crisis.Florida had the nation's third-highest homeless population in 2022. The bill be aimin' to clean up streets while providin' safe shelters and mental health services.
