Ahoy mateys! The Oscars be upon us once again, and this year's slate be chock-full of tales rooted in history and real-life biographies. But the question be, how much sway should these subjects have over the Academy's decision-making?
Arrr, if ye ask me, I say let the stories tell themselves! Aye, a good historical yarn can be a fine thing to watch, but it shouldn't be the only thing that sways the voters. A film should be judged on its merit, not just on how close it sticks to the history books.
But then again, who am I to say? I be just a humble pirate, not a fancy-pants film critic. Still, I reckon a good story be a good story, whether it be true or not. So let's raise a tankard of grog to all the fine films in contention this year, and may the best swashbuckler win!
