Arr, ye scallywags in the Albanian Supreme Court be sayin' to the prosecutors, "Avast ye! Get back to investigatin' them killings of four landlubbers at the rally in 2011!" It be a jolly good time for justice to be served, me hearties!
Arr me hearties! Albania’s Supreme Court be orderin' them prosecutors to set sail on the investigation into the killin' of a protester at an anti-government rumble in 2011. Four fine Socialist Party supporters met their end by the hands of the law on Jan. 21, 2011, while raisin' a ruckus against the alleged corruption and vote-stealin' by the government of then-Prime Minister Sali Berisha. Two scallywag police officers were sent to the brig for the demise of three of 'em, but no one walked the plank for the fourth protester, poor Aleks Nika. His widow cried foul and took her case to the European Court of Human Rights, which gave the nod for the Albanian courts to get back to work. The Supreme Court has ordered the Special Prosecutors' Office Against Corruption and Organized Crime to batten down the hatches and resume the criminal case over Nika's death.Nika’s widow be claimin' she has evidence of a command from the top brass to fire on the protesters and be wantin' to question top police officials, as well as Berisha and the old interior minister. Meanwhile, Berisha be in the brig himself, bein' investigated for helpin' his kin to snag public land. The families of the other three lost souls be feelin' that the punishment for the police officers be but a drop in the ocean, as the prosecutors had aimed for a much harsher sentence. The protest turned into a full-blown skirmish, with stones, sticks, and even Molotov cocktails flyin' about. When the dust settled, four souls were sent to Davy Jones's locker and seven others were wounded. Berisha be callin' it a failed coup, but the Socialists be cryin' foul and accusin' him of givin' the order for the police to fire.Prime Minister Edi Rama be pleased as punch with the court’s decision, seein' a glimmer of hope in the dark waters of Albanian justice. Arrr! Let’s see if justice be finally served in this tale of treachery and betrayal!
