In the land of Washington state, where the political winds blow strong, they have decided that your beliefs must align with theirs to be a loving parent. Back in 2022, we were foster parents for over nine years, caring for many a child in need. But the state officials took issue with our religious beliefs, beliefs shared by millions across the land. The Bible guided us to care for the vulnerable, leading us to foster care in 2013. We loved each child that came through our doors, from newborns to toddlers. The joy of seeing them grow was matched only by the sadness of saying goodbye when they went back to their families.But the need in Washington was great, with children sleeping in hotels and offices due to lack of caregivers. We wanted to help, but the state's new policies on gender ideology clashed with our beliefs. We couldn't agree to speak against our faith, so the state denied us the chance to care for any child, putting politics above the welfare of the young ones.With the help of Alliance Defending Freedom, we are fighting back, standing up for the children and our religious rights. Foster care is tough, but it's a calling we cannot ignore, and no one should be denied the chance to love and care for a child because of their beliefs.
