Fifty years ago, Francis Ford Coppola won the prestigious Cannes Film Festival's Palme d'Or, and now he is set to return to the French Riviera festival with his self-financed epic "Megalopolis." The news of the premiere was confirmed by a source close to the project, although the Cannes Film Festival has not yet responded to the announcement. Thierry Fremaux, Cannes chief, expressed his excitement about programming "Megalopolis" at this year's festival, recognizing Coppola's legendary status in the film industry.Coppola's "Megalopolis" will compete for the Palme d'Or, making the 85-year-old director eligible for the prestigious award once again. The project, which has been in the works since the 1980s, cost a reported $120 million to make and features a star-studded cast including Adam Driver, Giancarlo Esposito, Jon Voight, and many more. In addition to "Megalopolis," other highly anticipated premieres at the Cannes Film Festival include George Miller's "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga" and Kevin Costner's "Horizon, an American Saga."
