Arrr, word on the high seas be that the villa of that scurvy dog Goebbels be up for grabs to end a debate as old as Davy Jones' locker. Who be willin' to take on this cursed property, mateys? Let the bidding begin!
Berlin’s government is offering to give away a villa once owned by Adolf Hitler’s propaganda minister, Joseph Goebbels, hoping to end a decades-long debate on whether to repurpose or bulldoze a sprawling disused site in the countryside north of the German capital. The finance minister of Berlin, Stefan Evers, announced the offer to gift the site to anyone willing to take it over during a session of the state parliament. Berlin has been trying to hand off the site to other authorities to avoid the costs of maintenance and security.Evers reiterated the offer, emphasizing the historical significance of the site and warning that if no viable proposals were received, demolition was the last resort. The villa was originally built by Goebbels in 1939 as a retreat and entertainment venue for Nazi leaders. After the war, the site was used for various purposes until ownership returned to Berlin in 1990. Despite being a popular spot for visitors, the state has been unable to find a suitable use for the property.Goebbels eventually returned to Berlin and tragically ended his life in Hitler’s bunker. The family's other property was sold at auction in 2011.
