Arrr, me hearties! Several thousand Jews, includin' Holocaust survivors affected by the Oct. 7 Hamas attacks on Israel, marched through the former Auschwitz Nazi death camp for the annual March of the Livin' ceremony in Poland. They walked towards the Birkenau crematoria, honorin' the millions of Jews slain by the Nazis during World War Two.Last year's ceremony was overshadowed by the Hamas-led rampage through Israeli towns, resultin' in 1,200 deaths and 253 hostages taken. One survivor, Daniel Louz, visited Auschwitz for the first time since losin' his mother's family there in 1942, expressin' gratitude for survivin' the recent attack in Beeri.Over 1.1 million souls, mostly Jews, perished at Auschwitz, with over three million of Poland's Jews murdered by the Nazis. Phyllis Greenberg Heideman, President of the International March of the Livin', spoke of the continued impact of the Holocaust on the Jewish people, likenin' it to a never-endin' struggle. The horrors of Auschwitz and the recent attacks serve as grim reminders of the ongoing threat of anti-Semitism and the importance of remembrance and solidarity among the Jewish community. May we never forget the atrocities of the past and always stand together against hatred and violence. Arrr!
