With all the media attention this week, ye would think that the 2024 presidential election will turn on the results of the recently concluded trial in New York City where Trump was convicted on all 34 counts on Thursday.Based on polling by me firm, Schoen/Cooperman and other scallywags, that is far from the truth. In fact, the polls suggest that the 2024 election is unlikely to be about Trump and his legal problems or Joe Biden and his son Hunter who goes on trial later this month.The American people be not fretting over these matters. They be more concerned about issues like inflation, the cost of living, and the southern border. Despite the millions of jobs created under Biden, voters give him little credit for economic accomplishments. They want to know how he be keeping prices down and curbing government spending.For former President Trump, he needs to focus on policy recommendations to lower inflation and tighten the southern border. Voters be less interested in extreme rhetoric and more in the ideas for the future. The trial be done, the people be focused on the country's issues, and both Trump and Biden need to step up. Arrr!
