Avast ye hearties! A mighty judge from the federal seas, known as Chief U.S. District Judge Mark Walker, hath struck down part of Florida's "Stop Woke Act," a fancy bit o' legislation crafted by that crafty Republican captain, Gov. Ron DeSantis, and his crew of lawmakers. This here act sought to banish critical race theory training from the decks of workplaces and schools, but the judge declared it a violation of the grand First Amendment!The law, known in some circles as the "Stop Wrongs To Our Kids and Employees Act," aimed to make it illegal to claim that one group o' scallywags be inherently racist or ought to feel guilty for the misdeeds of their ancestors. It also declared that no soul should claim they be privileged or oppressed based on their skin or gender. The judge deemed such compulsory training as a form of discrimination—arrr!
This be a jolly reminder that the First Amendment be a mighty weapon against the whims of elected officials, according to the counsel of Protect Democracy.
