"Arrr! Three jolly rules to rally the crew this election tide, lest we sail into squabbles, ye landlubbers!"
2024-09-08
Arrr, mateys! America be a ship split asunder, forsakin' the Golden Rule o’ kindness, especially when the election winds blow fierce! But fear not! Here be three jolly ways to hoist the sails of unity and steer us back to calm waters! Yo ho, let’s mend our ship!
Ahoy, mateys! Now that the grand extravaganzas o’ the Democratic and Republican conventions be behind us, it be high time for us to hoist the sails o’ unity amongst our shipmates on campus! Without it, we be driftin’ into the turbulent seas of conflict and unrest. Pointin’ fingers at others won’t do us no good; if we can’t speak kindly to those with a different flag, how can we expect ‘em to show us the same courtesy? As the captain o’ Southeastern University, I took it upon meself to teach the importance o’ civil discourse. We even founded the American Center for Public Leadership, thanks to me matey Dennis Ross! He be suggestin’ that to build a stronger crew, we must work through our differences instead o’ just tryin’ to change each other’s minds.
So, how do we engage in these civilized talks? First, lend an ear to your opponents—don’t just be waitin’ to fire back! When they’ve shared their piece, offer yer thoughts kindly and respectfully. Remember, it ain’t ‘bout winnin’ or losin’ but respectin’ each other’s views, even if we agree to disagree.
Lastly, let’s not forget the Golden Rule, mateys! Treat others as ye wish to be treated, and ye might just find a new shipmate in the process. The seas be calm when we communicate with kindness, so let’s set sail on the winds of unity!
