Ahoy mateys! Gather 'round fer a tale of a hiking couple who stumbled upon a treasure far greater than gold – prehistoric footprints, I tell ye! Last summer, Claudia Steffensen and her sea dog of a husband set sail for the Italian Alps to escape the blisterin' heat, only to find themselves on a quest of archaeological proportions!As they hiked, Claudia spied some peculiar markings on a slab o’ rock that struck her as stranger than a sailor’s yarn! With a closer look, she realized they were footprints from ancient critters who roamed the land long before yer great-great-great-grandpappy was even a twinkle in the eye of history!
With the keen eye of a treasure seeker, Claudia snapped a pic and sent it to her matey, a photographer who then summoned a paleontologist from the famous Museum of Natural History in Milan. The findings were soon identified as relics from the Permian period, dating back a staggering 251 to 299 million years ago! Blimey, that was before the dinosaurs even strutted their stuff!
