Arrr! The ivory tinkler of Journey hath spilled his guts in a newfangled reel titled "Journey: A Voice Lost…and Found." Gather 'round, me hearties, and listen to his tale!

Jonathan Cain, the keyboardist of the band Journey, has revealed that he was not surprised when Steve Perry left the band for a second time in 1998. Perry originally left the band in 1987 and reunited with his bandmates in 1996, resulting in a hit with the Grammy-nominated romantic ballad "When You Love a Woman." However, Perry was struggling with physical pain due to a degenerative bone condition that required hip-replacement surgery. The band had planned a tour, but Perry was not up for it physically or emotionally. Journey recruited Steve Augeri as a replacement for Perry, which caused fury among die-hard fans. In the documentary "Journey: A Voice Lost… And Found," Cain revealed that he received threats from fans who insisted that Perry was irreplaceable. The band continued with Augeri and later discovered Arnel Pineda, a Filipino club singer, on YouTube. Pineda became the band's new singer and won over skeptical audiences. Today, Journey is celebrating their 50th anniversary and has been touring with Pineda, while Perry released a solo album in 2018 and a Christmas album in 2021. Cain reflected on the band's success, saying, "We did the best that we could. And I’m proud of what we’ve done, all of us."
