Avast, me hearties! Hear ye, Jonah Watson, a scallywag of 26 years from Dayton, be awaitin' an arson trial. He stands accused o' settin' a brace o' brush fires what posed a threat to many a home on the Fourth o' July!

A man named Jonah Watson from northern Nevada is facing multiple charges related to arson. He was awaiting trial for arson charges from last year when he was arrested again for starting two brush fires on the Fourth of July. Watson's lawyer claims that he has been found incompetent to stand trial and has been unable to secure mental health treatment due to a shortage of available services in the area.

The first fire threatened several homes in Dayton, a rural town where Watson resides. Citizens with garden hoses helped firefighters extinguish the blaze before any buildings were damaged. Shortly after, a second fire was reported a mile away, also endangering homes and businesses. Multiple witnesses identified Watson at the scene of both fires, and additional evidence pointed to his involvement.

This recent arrest follows a similar set of circumstances that led to Watson's previous arrest in December 2022. In that incident, three century-old buildings in Old Town Dayton were destroyed, including the historic Fox Hotel.

Watson had previously posted bond and was released from jail after being arrested for the December fire. His next court date is pending.

Watson's lawyer explained that they have been trying to secure mental health treatment for him, but there are limited resources in the area. Lake's Crossing in Sparks is the only hospital in northern Nevada that accepts mentally ill defendants involved in the criminal justice system. Unfortunately, they were waiting for resources to become available at Lake's Crossing before this new arrest and allegation.

Overall, Jonah Watson is facing serious charges related to arson, and his lawyer is trying to secure mental health treatment for him amidst limited resources in the area.
