Arrr, me hearties! Young Jack Hughes, the devil of New Jersey, took a nasty tumble and be needin’ a shoulder fixin’ on Wednesday! Now he’s sailin’ the bench for the rest o’ the season. A right scallywag, that one! Mayhaps he’ll return with a treasure o’ skills!

In a raucous fray against the Golden Knights, our hero collided most mightily with another swashbuckler, Jack Eichel, and alas, it cost him the remainder of his season!The scallywags of the Devils be searchin’ for glory as they sought to pounce late in the game, but when Hughes couldn't snag the rebound from Nico Hischier’s shot, he went crashing into the boards like a shipwrecked vessel! With a shoulder injury that left his arm dangling like a shoddy sail, Jack skated off, with his brother Luke feeling the weight of the world upon his heart.
The crew announced the grim tidings, proclaiming Hughes would need surgery on the high seas of Colorado. With the winds of misfortune blowin' hard, the Devils, once cruisin' atop the division, now find themselves flounderin’ amidst a stormy sea, clutchin' to their playoff spot by a thread!
Alas, it be the second season in a row where our lad Hughes played but 62 games, with his treasure trove of 27 goals and 40 assists now but a distant dream. Raise a tankard for our fallen mate, and may his sails be full come next season!
