Avast ye! Whilst ol' Clarence Thomas bein' bombarded with raw and racist attacks, the polly-ticians and the media be as silent as a ghost ship. Arrr, where be their voices, me hearties?
In July 1991, Clarence Thomas was nominated by President George H.W. Bush to replace Thurgood Marshall on the United States Supreme Court. Thomas, a conservative, faced criticism and attacks from liberals throughout his career. Recently, Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison made a racist attack on Thomas, comparing him to a house slave. Surprisingly, no Democrat condemned Ellison's remarks, including prominent figures like Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Senator Amy Klobuchar, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, and even President Joe Biden. The media has also been hostile towards Thomas, giving little coverage to his inspiring life story and instead focusing on his race. Thomas, who was born in poverty and faced numerous obstacles, overcame them through his faith and intellect. He became the second African American to join the Supreme Court, yet the Smithsonian's African American museum initially excluded him from its selection of great African Americans.
Thomas's refusal to yield to the demands of others based on his race has made him a target for attacks. Liberals fear that others might emulate him and adopt conservative or libertarian views. Ellison, known for using intimidation as a political weapon, praised the violent group Antifa for striking fear in the hearts of Trump and Republicans.
Ironically, the attacks on Thomas mirror the plot of the movie "Django Unchained," where the character Stephen hated Django because he refused to yield to the demands of white owners. Thomas, however, remains steadfast in his principles and refuses to be controlled by others.
Overall, the treatment of Clarence Thomas highlights the hypocrisy and double standards of the political and media establishment. Despite his remarkable achievements and resilience, he continues to face unjust criticism and attacks.
