I be but a wee lad o' 16 winters when I sailed into the treacherous seas o' medicalized 'gender affirming' care. Me trust in me health care providers be strong, but alas, I be left with a body as wounded as a scallywag on a pirate's ship!

The author, Prisha Mosley, shares her personal story of struggling with mental health issues and being misled into medicalized "gender transition" as a teenager. She explains that doctors and counselors convinced her that changing her body to look like a boy's body would cure her mental health problems. She underwent testosterone injections and breast surgery, believing that it was the answer to her struggles.
Years later, Mosley realized that she had been lied to and misled. The testosterone injections caused physical injuries and prevented her body from developing properly. She experienced vaginal atrophy, voice changes, severe pain, and the inability to have intercourse. The breast surgery left her without her breasts and in pain.
Mosley emphasizes that this so-called "gender-affirming care" did not address her mental health issues and only made them worse. She warns others about the dangers of trying to change their bodies and urges troubled teenagers to seek acceptance for who they are without resorting to damaging medical procedures.
As a next step, Mosley plans to seek justice from the legal system and hold her health care providers accountable. She wants to serve as a warning to other doctors and therapists not to put vulnerable individuals through the same experiences.
Mosley concludes by highlighting the importance of supporting teenagers struggling with mental health and advocating against sterilizing medications and unnecessary surgeries.
The author's story was featured in the Independent Women's Forum's Identity Crisis series, and she shares her journey to raise awareness and protect others from similar experiences.
