2023-07-20

Arr! Methinks Rep. Jim Jordan be generous to grant Robert F. Kennedy Jr. more time at the close o' ye olde Subcommittee on the Weaponization o' the Federal Government. But alas, it ignited a mighty squabble, as if two sea devils locked in a fierce duel for the treasure!

During a House Judiciary Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government hearing, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was given extra time to speak, which sparked an argument among members. Democrat delegate Stacey Plaskett accused RFK Jr. of aligning himself with MAGA Republicans through a super PAC named Heal the Divide. She claimed that the same super PAC supports Kennedy and is run by a man named Jason Boles, who has also worked with other prominent MAGA Republicans. RFK Jr. responded by stating that he had never heard of Mr. Boles or the super PAC in question. At the end of the hearing, RFK Jr. asked if he could make an additional comment, which was met with opposition from Plaskett. Republican Rep. Mike Johnson intervened, and the debate continued. RFK Jr. clarified that he had no affiliation with the super PAC and had only a tangential connection through a third party. After his statement, the meeting was formally adjourned by Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan. RFK Jr., who is running for the Presidency, was invited to testify at the hearing by Republicans. Early in the debate, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz attempted to take the hearing into executive session, claiming that RFK Jr. had violated a House rule. She referred to his comments about COVID-19 being ethnically targeted, but RFK Jr. clarified that he was not accusing anyone of deliberate engineering. Wasserman Schultz's motion to halt the hearing was voted down by the Republican majority.
