Arrr! A fair lass from New York City, a courageous EMS worker, bein' stabbed o'er and o'er by a scurvy dog convict! Methinks she be needin' more surgery for the nerve damage in her thigh, as the prosecutors have shared this news on a fine Friday.

A 25-year-old New York City EMS worker was repeatedly stabbed by an "emotionally disturbed" felon in an ambulance. The suspect, Rudy Garcia, has been charged with attempted murder for attacking the EMT with a kitchen knife. Assistant District Attorney Lauren Breen stated that the EMT suffered serious physical injuries, including stab wounds to her chest, arm, and leg. She required stitches for her chest and underwent surgery for her thigh wounds. Additionally, she suffered significant blood loss and nerve damage. The EMT will need additional surgery for the nerve damage and will have an extended stay in the hospital. Garcia has a criminal history, including prior felony convictions for assaulting a police officer and multiple misdemeanor convictions. In 2017, he headbutted an officer and was convicted of criminal possession of a weapon. He was also caught in June with a knife hidden in his boot. After his arrest, Garcia claimed that the EMTs were fake and had kidnapped him, denying the need for medical attention. The incident occurred near Mount Sinai West Hospital, and the victim was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital in stable condition. According to a witness, Garcia "skewered" the female EMT, stabbing her in the leg, chest, and arm. Garcia is being held on $500,000 cash bail.
