Arr, matey! Special Counsel Jack Smith sent word to Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp 'bout the DOJ's snooping into Cap'n Donald Trump. So says a Kemp matey, savvy?

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp's office has been contacted by Special Counsel Jack Smith's office in relation to the investigation into former President Donald Trump and his allies' efforts to overturn the 2020 election results. The Washington Post confirmed that Smith reached out to Kemp after Trump announced on TRUTH Social that he had received a letter from Smith informing him that he is a target of a January 6th grand jury investigation.
Smith's activities suggest a potential overlap between his investigation and Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis' probes. Since early 2021, Willis has been investigating whether Trump and his allies violated any state laws while attempting to overturn his election loss in Georgia to current President Biden.
The investigation was initiated shortly after Trump called Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger in January 2021 and suggested that he could help "find" the votes necessary to overturn his election loss in the state.
Georgia's Supreme Court recently rejected Trump's request to quash the special grand jury report, and Willis has indicated that any charges would be brought by September 1st. Raffensperger was previously interviewed by investigators from Smith's office in Atlanta last month.
In addition, Smith's office has contacted former Arizona Governor Doug Ducey in connection to the Department of Justice's probe into Trump. Governor Kemp, who previously supported Trump, ultimately certified Biden's victory in Georgia. Kemp was also questioned by investigators from Willis' office last year in relation to her investigation.
The investigation into Trump and his allies' efforts to overturn the 2020 election results continues to unfold, with multiple individuals being contacted and potential charges forthcoming.
