In a tragic incident, a teenager and two adults lost their lives in a house fire while vacationing in North Carolina's Outer Banks. The fire broke out in a rental home and quickly engulfed the property, causing extensive damage and injuring three others. The Kill Devil Hills Fire Department responded to the emergency and managed to contain and extinguish the blaze.The victims have not been identified publicly as their next of kin have yet to be notified. However, it is believed that they were on vacation, indicated by the Maryland license plates on their cars in the driveway. Two other adults from the house were airlifted to a hospital in Norfolk, Virginia, for medical treatment, while a teenage victim was treated and released on site.
As a precaution, occupants of a neighboring home were evacuated and relocated safely due to fire damage. The property has been deemed unsafe for occupancy. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Kill Devil Hills Fire Marshal, the Dare County Fire Marshal, and the State Bureau of Investigation.
