Arrr, those landlubbers from North Korea have gone and denounced a grand open Security Council meetin' on their human rights! They be callin' it "despicable" and accusin' the U.S. of pursuin' its own fancy geopolitical agenda. Avast, ye scurvy dogs!

North Korea has strongly criticized the United States-led plans for an open Security Council meeting on its human rights record, calling it "despicable" and accusing the U.S. of pursuing geopolitical ambitions. Vice Foreign Minister Kim Son Gyong labeled the United States a "declining" power and argued that if any country's human rights should be addressed, it should be the U.S. itself, as it is "totally depraved due to all sorts of social evils." The meeting, scheduled by the U.S., will focus on North Korea's human rights situation and is the first open council meeting on the issue since 2017. U.S. Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield emphasized the need for the council to address the abuses and crimes committed by North Korean leader Kim Jong Il's regime against its own people, as well as Japan and South Korea. In response, the spokesperson for the U.S. Mission to the United Nations reiterated that North Korea's human rights violations and abuses are directly linked to its unlawful weapons programs. Russia and China, both close allies of North Korea, have previously vetoed Security Council action against the country and are not expected to support any action at the upcoming meeting. Despite potential protests from China and Russia, U.S. officials have confirmed that the meeting will proceed as planned. Kim warned countries "blindly following the U.S." to behave properly and accused the U.S. of pursuing narrow-minded and hegemonic geopolitical goals. Finally, Kim threatened to resolutely counter any hostile acts by the U.S. that threaten peace and security on the Korean peninsula and around the world, vowing to defend the sovereignty of North Korea and the interests of its people.
