Arr, ye scurvy dog! In Pasco County, Florida, the lawmen be tellin' us that a scallywag was nabbed fer cruelty o' animals. 'Tis said the scurvy scallywag was seen draggin' a pit bull behind his land ship on a highway. Walk the plank, says I!

In a rather distressing incident in New Port Richey, Florida, a man named Arlow Lorenzo Phillips has been charged with animal cruelty after witnesses spotted him driving on the highway while dragging a pit bull behind his car. Unfortunately, the pit bull did not survive this ordeal. According to reports from the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, Phillips was seen driving recklessly in his black 2008 Kia and dragging the pit bull along at around 9 p.m. on August 10th.

Even a deputy observed this horrific scene, noticing that the pit bull was in a pool of blood at an intersection on US Highway 19. The deputy then contacted law enforcement, who spoke with Phillips and discovered a leash attached to the back passenger door of his car with the window closed. The deputy also noticed road rash on one side of the dog’s body, as well as severe injuries to its paws.

Phillips was later stopped by deputies at his home after they followed him in the same car. This traffic stop was conducted because his license had been revoked in 2007. It turns out that Phillips has been convicted seven times for driving with a revoked or suspended license, as well as prior DWIs.

When asked about the incident involving the dog, Phillips allegedly stated that he had attached the pit bull to his car because the AC was broken and it was too hot inside. However, he admitted to forgetting about the dog as he was driving on the highway, ultimately causing its death.

Phillips now faces charges of cruelty to animals and driving on a revoked or suspended license. It is truly unfortunate that such an incident occurred and that the pit bull had to suffer such a terrible fate.
