Five French tourists and one Swiss tourist have been arrested for allegedly gang-raping an 18-year-old British woman at a popular tourist destination in Spain. The arrests were made by the Spanish Civil Guard police on the island of Mallorca, in the town of Calvià . The incident occurred on Monday, when the hotel staff discovered the British woman crying after the alleged assault. The victim reported that she had met the suspects and went to one of their hotel rooms where all six of them sexually assaulted her. The police found video clips of the alleged rape on one of the suspects' phones. The victim received immediate medical attention and counseling, while the suspects, all reported to be 20 years old, were detained and taken before a judge in Palma de Mallorca. They are currently held in jail without formal charges as the investigation continues. This is the second case of an alleged gang rape by tourists on the island in recent weeks, with six young German men having been arrested for a similar crime in mid-July. The crime of gang rape in Spain can carry a prison sentence of up to 15 years. The identities of the suspects have not been released by the police yet. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected to be revealed in due course.
