A man in Georgia was arrested for impersonating a police officer in downtown Atlanta after a real officer noticed something was off about his uniform. The incident occurred when an on-duty Atlanta Police officer approached a man who appeared to be an off-duty officer working security in a parking lot. The officer became suspicious when he noticed that the man's uniform was slightly off and his body camera equipment was different. Sensing something was not right, the officer informed his supervisors and an investigation was initiated. Two Atlanta Police Department supervisors responded to the scene and also found the man's story to be inconsistent. They checked certification records and could not find his name, leading to his arrest. The man claimed that he had applied to work for the Atlanta Police Department in the past but failed the physical exam. The equipment he was carrying was similar but different from authentic Atlanta Police equipment. The man was charged with impersonating a police officer and taken to the Fulton County Jail. The police department stated that the investigation into this man is ongoing, and they are looking into whether he impersonated an officer in other situations or locations. They urged anyone who may have encountered the fake officer to come forward with information.
