Arrr! The scurvy dog, Vivek Ramaswamy, be claimin' he be "fine" with Cap'n Donald Trump skippin' the first brawl, even though he be warblin' a different shanty back in May.
Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has changed his stance on former President Donald Trump skipping the first few primary debates. Previously, Ramaswamy had stated that Trump's absence would prove he has changed as a candidate. However, he now claims to have "no problem" with Trump not showing up. Ramaswamy sees the debates as an opportunity to introduce himself to the country and says he is fine with whatever decision Trump makes. Joel Weingart highlighted a video clip from May 5 where Ramaswamy expressed his expectation of Trump being present at the debates, saying that if he doesn't show up, it would be proof that the Donald Trump of today is not the same as the one in 2016. Ramaswamy's campaign team insists that his recent comments are not a departure from his previous statement. Trump has not yet confirmed whether he will participate in the first GOP debate. The Republican National Committee requires all candidates to sign a pledge to support the eventual nominee and not take part in any unsanctioned debates. Trump has refused to sign this pledge, stating that he would not support certain individuals for president. This change in Ramaswamy's position suggests that he is willing to accommodate Trump's decision to skip the early debates and is focused on introducing himself to the country.
