An elementary school teacher in a school district outside of Chicago was fired after parents discovered alleged social media posts supporting Satan and describing violent behavior due to a "psychosis and mania" disorder. The Homer Community Consolidated School District 33C Board held a special meeting in response to the outrage from parents and decided to terminate the teacher's employment. The art teacher had been hired this year to work at four elementary schools in the district. The social media posts, which were shared on the popular Libs of TikTok account, included messages endorsing satanism and expressing violent tendencies. Some parents also reported seeing posts advocating child sacrifice and anti-religious sentiments. The teacher's alleged posts also featured an upside-down black American flag with an anti-police message. Concerned parents argued that the district had a responsibility to protect children and that hiring someone with a history of violent behavior and a satanic belief system was negligent. The school board defended their hiring process, stating that they conduct background checks but acknowledged that it is not always flawless. They claimed that upon discovering new information about the teacher's background, they took appropriate action by terminating their employment. The district did not provide further comment in response to requests for additional information.
