Arrr! The Republican National Committee be choosin' Houston, Texas as the place fer its 2028 presidential nominatin' shindig. But afore that, Milwaukee, Wisconsin be hostin' the 2024 convention! Prepare yer sea legs, me hearties, fer some grand political plunderin' in these fair cities!

In a jolly announcement, the Republican National Committee (RNC) has chosen Houston, Texas as the host city for their 2028 presidential nominating convention. This decision followed a vote by the RNC's 168 committee members, who had to choose between Houston, Miami, Florida, and Nashville, Tennessee. The RNC revealed the news in a release, and it seems that the city of Houston is quite excited about the opportunity.

Houston hasn't had the chance to host a national party presidential convention since 1992, when George H.W. Bush was re-nominated in the Astrodome. The last Democratic National Convention held in Houston was way back in 1928. The city had actually bid to host the Democratic convention in 2028, but Chicago won that honor.

Interestingly, the RNC's decision came just two days after Fox News hosted the first GOP presidential nomination debate for the 2024 election in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where the 2024 RNC convention will be held. Both the Republicans and Democrats usually choose crucial battleground states for their conventions, and Wisconsin fits that bill, while Illinois, where the Democrats will hold their convention, is generally a blue state.

Despite Houston being a Democratic-leaning city, Texas as a whole is known for its Republican leanings. Perhaps the RNC hopes to strengthen their presence in this traditionally red state by bringing their convention to Houston. Whatever the reason, it will certainly be an interesting event to look forward to in 2028. Arrr, the pirates of the RNC have spoken, and Houston be their treasure trove for the presidential nominating convention!
