A flag belonging to the Wagner Group, a Russian mercenary organization, was found at the site of a plane crash that killed their leader, Yevgeny Prigozhin. The flag, depicting a skull and the words "PMC Wagner Group" in English and Russian, was discovered next to a pile of rocks and flowers near the village of Kuzhenkino. The crash occurred on August 23 during a flight from Moscow to St. Petersburg. It is worth noting that no wreckage was found at the crash site. The appearance of the flag comes after images of Russian police guarding Prigozhin's gravesite following his burial in St. Petersburg. The farewell ceremony for Prigozhin was held in a closed format, and Russian President Vladimir Putin was not present. Putin has described Prigozhin as a talented businessman who made serious mistakes in life. A previously unseen video of Prigozhin also emerged, in which he addresses speculation of his own death. In the video, Prigozhin denies rumors and claims to be in Africa at the time.
