Aye, ye scallywags! A pair o' landlubbers hath been seized after bein' caught on the mystical spyglass, pilferin' o'er $17,000 worth o' booty from the fine Target store in Orange County, California. Walk the plank, they shall!

A couple in Orange County, California, has been charged with theft after allegedly stealing $17,000 worth of merchandise from two Target stores. Analu Gonzalez, 25, and Alexis De Jesus Garcia, 22, were charged in connection with thefts that occurred in March and April at Target locations in Costa Mesa and Irvine. The Irvine Police Department released security footage showing the alleged thefts.

The police department took a humorous approach in their social media post, comparing the couple to Mario and Luigi collecting coins. They described the couple as "Bowser and his partner in crime, Buzzy Beatle," who collected baby formula across Orange County. The video showed them pushing a shopping cart towards the baby formula aisle and indiscriminately stuffing items into a large tote bag.

An employee attempted to intervene, but the couple walked away with the stolen goods. The couple was later located at a motel in Buena Park, where detectives arrested them. The police clarified that they were not stealing the formula to feed their "Koopalings," a playful reference to characters from the Super Mario games.

In the theft that occurred in Irvine, the couple executed a similar strategy of rolling a cart to the baby formula aisle and filling it with products. They stole an estimated $3,000 worth of merchandise during this incident. Gonzalez and Garcia were arrested on charges of grand theft and organized retail theft.
Overall, the couple's alleged theft spree, reminiscent of characters from a video game, came to an end when they were apprehended by the police. The humorous tone in the police department's social media post added a light-hearted touch to the situation.
