On this third reckonin' o' the Abraham Accords, we be reminded o' the dire need to bolster our alliances in the face o' risin' Iranian hostility, mateys! Arrr, let's join forces, lest we be swashbuckled by those scurvy scallywags!
While Americans may not have seen the promised benefits of "Bidenomics" in their budgets, Iran is certainly enjoying the financial boost provided by the Biden administration's policies. Despite the US claiming to have sanctions on Iran, the country has experienced a five-year high in oil exports, filling its coffers. Additionally, the Biden administration has approved $6 billion in response to Iran's hostage "diplomacy." This influx of funds has allowed the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Quds Force (IRGC-QF) to raise salaries for its proxies, giving them ample support to carry out attacks and threats against Americans and their allies in the region. These developments have serious implications for American security and the safety of our Middle Eastern allies. Iran, as the world's leading sponsor of terrorism, poses a significant threat to the region. It is crucial that we strengthen our partnerships and stand united against Iranian aggression.
The Abraham Accords, which mark the third anniversary of their signing, have been a significant step towards peace in the Middle East. These agreements have fostered flourishing ties and cooperation among nations in the region, leading to advancements in trade and inter-faith dialogues. As a senator and combat veteran, I recognize the importance of the Accords and have co-founded the Senate Abraham Accords Caucus to support bipartisan legislation and initiatives that bring our partners together.
While Congress can play a role in advancing the Accords, it is essential for the president to project strength and enforce the law. The Biden administration's failure to respond effectively to Iran's illegal seizure of an oil tanker has already strained relations with United Arab Emirates (UAE), a crucial US partner in the region. We cannot afford to appease Iran and risk undoing the progress achieved through the Accords.
Enforcing sanctions and deterring aggression should be top priorities for the administration. We must not allow Iran to undermine the stability and advancements made in the region. The Biden administration must recognize the significance of the Abraham Accords and take decisive action to protect and strengthen these historic agreements. Enforcement of sanctions is our sword, which, when wielded effectively, can safeguard the progress achieved through the Accords.
