Avast ye, mateys! Aforementioned scallywag, a former prosecutor, be mighty vexed watchin' the DOJ stumble about like a landlubber on a five-year quest, all while starin' at undeniable proof o' scurvy corruption and dastardly criminal deeds. Arrr!
No one is surprised that Hunter Biden is finally facing legal consequences, and it could potentially be one of the biggest political scandals in American history. This is the first time a sitting U.S. president's son has been criminally indicted. However, this is just the beginning of the story. It is concerning to see the Department of Justice struggle through a five-year investigation with overwhelming evidence of corruption and criminal conduct. Typically, the DOJ takes a hard line on firearms cases, but in this case, they seem to be handling it differently. Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a national task force created to crack down on firearms cases, has been adhered to by every attorney general, including Merrick Garland. The DOJ traditionally does not offer diversion or leniency in firearms cases, yet Hunter Biden's tax evasion and gun charge sweetheart deal fell apart when a federal judge got involved. The DOJ later brought three indictments against Hunter, including false statements while purchasing a gun and possessing a gun while addicted to drugs. These charges do not seem to be the most serious offenses that could be pursued. The evidence, including the abandoned laptop with incriminating emails and testimony from Tony Bobulinski, Hunter's former business associate, points to an elaborate scheme to pull money from foreign entities for access and favors. The crimes may be simple, but the subterfuge and evasion involved are extensive. The entire Biden family's finances should have been thoroughly investigated, but it appears they have managed to avoid true accountability. Hunter and Joe Biden should face the same level of scrutiny as others with evidence of corruption. However, they seem to be confident that they will never be fully investigated or face prison time.
