In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, reality star and mom Jill Duggar discussed how her faith has evolved and how growing up on television has influenced her decisions as a mother. Duggar, known for appearing on the reality TV shows "19 Kids and Counting" and its spinoff "Counting On," opened up about her journey in her new memoir, "Counting the Cost." She credits her husband for helping her maintain a strong faith through difficult times. Duggar and her husband, Derick Dillard, have three sons and live near the Arkansas and Oklahoma border.Duggar's upbringing was based on the strict fundamentalist Baptist lifestyle of her parents, who belonged to the Institute for Basic Life Principles (IBLP). However, after marrying Dillard, Duggar began to question some of these teachings and sought to understand them in the context of scripture. She found that she did not have to blindly obey her parents but could honor them by living as Christ wants.
Throughout her journey, Duggar found comfort in certain Psalms, particularly Psalm 91 and Psalm 23. She also sought therapy to work through triggers related to her past and her relationship with her father.
Duggar's memoir is not an attempt to reconcile with her family but rather to be a voice for the voiceless and give hope to others on their own journeys. She acknowledges the positive experiences of her childhood and the investments her parents made in her life. However, she and her husband are raising their sons differently, enrolling them in public school and not following IBLP teachings.
Overall, Duggar hopes her sons will grow up to love Jesus, be independent, and serve others. She believes they will do amazing things.
