In preparation for Halloween, Fox News has compiled a list of real-life locations where some of the most famous horror movies were filmed. One such location is the Amityville Horror house in Long Island, New York, where the supernatural events experienced by the Lutz family were depicted in the 1977 book and 1979 movie. The Conjuring house in Rhode Island, which was investigated by real-life ghost hunters Ed and Lorraine Warren, has also become a popular tourist attraction. The house from the movie Scream, located in northern California, is now available for bookings on Airbnb. In Salem, Massachusetts, fans of the movie Hocus Pocus can visit a private residence that appeared in the film. The Hook & Ladder Company 8 firehouse in New York City, featured in Ghostbusters, is still standing and has become a popular spot for fans to visit and take photos. The Dakota apartment building in New York City, known for being the setting of Rosemary's Baby, has a dark history as it is where John Lennon was shot in 1980. The iconic house from Beetlejuice was just a facade built for the film, but the town it was set in, Winter River, Connecticut, was created for the movie. Other locations mentioned include the MacNiel residence from The Exorcist, the "White residence" from Carrie, and the Borden residence from The Legend of Lizzie Borden. These real-life locations add to the spooky atmosphere of Halloween and provide fans with a chance to visit the sites of their favorite horror films.
