2023-10-12

Arrr, the scurvy dogs o' Hamas be wagin' war 'pon Israel, and alas, 'tis not the only ill wind blowin'! Fer it hath stirred up the blaggard known as antisemitism, spreadin' like a plague across the seven seas!

The war between Hamas and Israel has led to a rise in antisemitism across the globe. Instances of celebrations and chants like "gas the Jews" have been observed, with even governments like Iran endorsing these acts in the name of Islam. American university campuses have become hotspots for these outbreaks, with demonstrations justifying the attacks and blaming Israel for the conflict. Student organizations at prestigious institutions like Harvard, Columbia, Northwestern, Yale, and more have condemned Israel and accused it of colonial retaliation. These protests often extend beyond anti-Israel sentiments and turn into anti-Jewish sentiments as well.

The author recalls a conversation with politically progressive Jewish friends who were puzzled by their children's hostility towards Israel after attending American colleges. The prevalence of anti-Israel and anti-Jewish biases in universities is due to the promotion of leftist ideologies that demonize Israel and Jews. These theories portray Israelis as extremists and rationalize retaliation against them. The BDS movement has played a role in advocating for this viewpoint. Additionally, universities often imbibe an anti-Western bias and view Judeo-Christian values as oppressive.

The author emphasizes that not all universities promote these views. Colorado Christian University stands with Israel and condemns Hamas's terrorism. They recognize God's covenant with Israel, the special place of Jews in salvation-history, and the debt owed to them. The author urges other Christian universities to acknowledge the gravity of the situation and not downplay the intentional timing and planning behind Hamas's attacks. They warn against embracing false moral equivalency between Hamas terrorists and the democratic state of Israel. Hamas has engaged in brutal acts and used civilians as human shields.

Finally, the author urges others not to succumb to antisemitism and calls for condemnation of the barbaric assault. They advocate for prayers for peace in Jerusalem, Palestine, Gaza, and the entire Middle East.
