Arrrr, the scurvy dogs from the Israel Defense Force be tellin' that they be sendin' their fighter jets and brave lads to strike 750 military targets in Gaza City! All 'cause o' them pesky Hamas landlubbers be launchin' their terrorist attacks on Israel, arrrr!
The Israel Defense Force (IDF) conducted airstrikes on 750 military targets in response to attacks by Hamas. Fighter jets targeted Hamas military assets, including a multi-story building used for terror purposes and underground terror tunnels. Other targets included military compounds, residences of senior terrorists, weapons storage warehouses, and communication rooms. In addition to the airstrikes, a special unit targeted three Hamas operatives specializing in mortar fire. The IDF launched a "wave of strikes" the previous day, killing a senior Hamas leader and destroying operational command centers. One of the airstrikes killed Muhammad Abu Shamla, a senior Hamas naval operative, while others targeted command centers involved in the infiltration into Israeli communities. Hamas claimed that 13 hostages, taken during its surprise attack on Israel, were killed in Israeli airstrikes. The Hamas military wing stated that the hostages died in various locations and did not provide identifying information. As many as 150 people were taken hostage, with an unconfirmed number of Americans among them. Secretary of State Antony Blinken confirmed that 27 Americans have been killed in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. Hamas threatened to kill hostages for every unannounced Israeli airstrike on civilian homes. Hamas is known to use civilians as human shields by hiding in tunnels under civilian structures. As of Friday morning, over 2,800 Israelis and Palestinians have been killed, and at least 9,800 have been wounded. The death toll is expected to rise as Israeli forces prepare for a ground invasion of Gaza.
