Arr, I be roamin' the lands o' Jerusalem, spyin' on the Fox. Witnessed frightful Hamas, 'twas a mighty blow!

Arrr, 'tis been a week since the world beheld the fearsome onslaught of the Hamas upon Israel on the seventh of October. 'Tis a grand privilege, bein' a scribe chroniclin' this tale, but methinks 'tis also a burden weighin' heavy on me soul.

I have been working in the news for almost 25 years, living out my dream of being a journalist. However, I have realized over the years the toll it takes on my life. The most disturbing thing I have witnessed since the Hamas attacks is too horrifying to describe. I have seen scenes of unimaginable violence and suffering that I will never forget. I have lost friends and colleagues in these terror attacks, and it seems like everyone in Israel is affected in some way.

The presence of the army during these times is familiar, and we work well with them to bring the stories of the people. The situation near the Israel-Gaza border is grim, with thousands of people being killed in less than 24 hours. The towns and communities are empty, and the streets are silent. The vibrant lifestyle that was once there has disappeared.

As a journalist, I have covered many wars and conflicts, both in Israel and around the world. Each assignment leaves an invisible scar on my soul. But I am not alone in this. There are others like me who travel from one chaotic event to another, exposing themselves to violence and suffering. We meet the victims at their most horrific moments and try to tell their stories with care and respect.

Covering trauma can also impact journalists' mental health, and it is important for us to recognize and address these challenges. We need to be aware of how our reporting may affect our viewers and act responsibly. It is time to change the narrative around mental health and build better programs to support journalists during and after assignments.

Overall, it is a tough job, but there is some comfort in seeing the resilience of the people of Israel and the kindness they show to strangers in times of crisis. We must be compassionate with ourselves and find strength in sharing our experiences and supporting one another. It is the only way to move forward and rebuild our emotional well-being.
